Atlantic Brain and Spine is transforming spine care with the innovative EOSedge imaging system and EOS Insight technology. This advanced system offers significantly lower radiation exposure compared to traditional X-rays, while providing weight-bearing imaging and high-quality images that cover a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal and orthopedic exams. Read on to discover how EOS scans enable more precise diagnoses and personalized treatment plans for better patient outcomes.

What is EOS®?

Atlantic Brain and Spine is revolutionizing spine care with the new EOSedge imaging system and EOS Insight. The EOS x-ray is a low-dose X-ray imaging system that produces 2D and 3D images of the skeletal system. EOS is a platform that includes an imaging system, EOSedge®, and digital software, EOS Insight™, that provides medical professionals with high-quality images and data to better understand each individual patient’s unique anatomy and condition.

How is the Exam Performed?

An EOS exam will consist of a person standing or sitting up straight in a special scanning room. Two very narrow X-ray beams, one vertical and one horizontal scan the whole body to make images of the spine and joints in 2D and 3D.

What is EOS X-Ray Imaging Used For?1

  • Scoliosis
  • Limb-length discrepancy
  • Hip and knee osteoarthritis
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Balance and posture issues
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Hip impingement
  • Bowleg and knock knee conditions
  • Total joint replacement surgeries

Benefits of Using EOS Imaging2

  • Low-Dose Radiation: EOS technology minimizes radiation exposure to patients compared to traditional X-ray imaging.
  • Full-Body Biplanar Imaging: By capturing a full-body image in a weight-bearing position, EOS provides a comprehensive view of the skeletal structure.
  • High Resolution and Precision: The high-resolution images produced by EOS allow orthopedic physicians to examine details that may not bevisible with conventional imaging methods.
  • Digital Spine Ecosystem: The integration of EOS technology into a cloud-based digital spine ecosystem enhances collaboration among healthcare providers.

EOS Insight Technology

Built on the EOSedge foundation, EOS Insight is a data-informed, peri-operative platform that enables spino-pelvic alignment assessments, patient-specific surgical planning, patient trends, and surgeon analytics. The platform offers a synchronized and seamless experience – access data and the surgical workflow from your desktop or mobile device.

The EOS Insight platform provides your doctor with a thorough understanding of your global alignment by providing not only the appropriate images, but also the diagnostic information needed to make treatment plans and evaluate their effectiveness. Just like how a well-aligned puzzle looks neat and complete, global alignment aims to keep your body in harmony, helping you stay healthy and active.

EOS for Pediatric Spine

Acquire accurate measurements with EOSedge images in afunctional, upright, weight-bearing position.

  • Full-body images
  • Simultaneous frontal and lateral acquisitions
  • Eliminate stitching, magnification, distortion, or parallax errors
  • Customizable field-of-view defined by which exams are ordered

Patients treated for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (average 16radiographs) had an overall cancer rate 5x higher than that of an age-matched population.3,4
